Assistant Restaurant Manager - Food Product Development position
The Workshop Vegetarian Café is seeking an assistant Restaurant Manager - Food Product Development
to lead Kitchen operations, including management of kitchen staff and kitchen operations and
supervision of food production. This is a permanent full-time position. Language of work is English.
The primary duties include:
 Supervision of food production
 Creation of new food products
 Development of menu items
 Scheduling and supervision of subordinate kitchen staff
 Overseeing kitchen operations
 Maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
 Hiring and training kitchen staff, and recommendations for termination of kitchen staff
Candidates must have relevant post-secondary education (food production, nutrition or other related
field), and minimum 2 years food product development experience in a commercial setting. The
Workshop Vegetarian Café is committed to the delivery of nutritional and delicious Asian/vegetarian
grab and go food products. Successful candidates will have the following additional qualifications:
 Experience in new food products creation
 Knowledge of packaging of products for “grab and go”
 Confirmed experience and demonstrable abilities with production of Asian food, ideally
vegetarian Asian food items, including handmade noodles, vegan ramen, miso based sauces
and dishes, kombu broth and fermented foods (including natto).
Training or experience with, or knowledge of Japanese inspired vegetarian food is a strong asset.
Salary will be $26.50 / hour for a 30 hour week. Benefits are as per the BC Employment Standards Act
Locations of work are 296 Pemberton Avenue (primary) and 288 Pemberton Avenue, both in North
Vancouver BC.
